Privacy Policy
UPDATED 2026-09-25This is the personal portfolio of Brian A. Bretz. It collects as little as a working website can: no accounts, no advertising, no cross-site tracking, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing. This page lists everything the site does handle, and how to accept or reject the one optional piece: analytics cookies.
Analytics
With your consent, the site uses Google Analytics cookies to analyze traffic and improve your experience: which pages are read and how visitors arrive, recorded as pages viewed, approximate location at the city or country level, device and browser type, and the referring site. It uses first-party cookies (_ga) to tell returning browsers apart. Google processes this data on the site’s behalf; per Google, Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. No advertising features, remarketing, or demographic profiling are enabled. Analytics runs only if you accept cookies: until you choose Accept, the Google tag isn’t loaded and nothing is sent. See Google’s privacy policy for how Google handles the data it processes.
Contact form
Messages sent through the contact form (name, email address, and the message itself) are delivered to my inbox by Web3Forms, a form-relay service. What you send is used to reply to you and for nothing else: no mailing lists, no resale, no profiling.
Hosting
The site is served from Amazon Web Services (S3 and CloudFront). Like any web host, AWS processes network-level data such as IP addresses in the course of delivering pages. This site does not keep server access logs of its own.
Cookies
The only cookies set are the Google Analytics measurement cookies described above, and only after you accept them. There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Your Accept or Reject choice itself is remembered in your browser’s local storage (ba-analytics-consent), which never leaves your device. The site works fully with all cookies blocked.
Your choices
Analytics cookies are the only optional collection, and none are set unless you accept them. The first time you visit, a cookie message offers Accept or Reject; you can change your answer here at any time. Rejecting after you have accepted also deletes the _ga cookies from this browser.
Blocking cookies for this site, using a content blocker, or installing Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on also keeps analytics cookies off; the site behaves identically either way.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data-protection rights (such as access, correction, or deletion of your personal data), you can exercise them by writing to me through the contact form — the only personal data this site holds about an identifiable person is what you have sent it yourself.
Changes
If what the site collects ever changes, this page changes with it, along with the date at the top.
